Annapurna Base Camp in 5 days flat, without pretending the trade off doesn't exist. Starting from Pokhara a jeep to Chhomrong on Day 1 skips the Ghorepani and Poon Hill approach entirely, then three days of genuine trekking carry you into the Sanctuary itself, with one night at Annapurna Base Camp before a long descent to Jhinu Danda's hot spring and back to Nayapul. Our fastest honest route to the same destination our 10 day classic trek reaches.

At Sublime Trails, we operate one of Nepal’s most efficient and professionally managed short trekking packages—the 5-Day Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek. This is our signature fast-track itinerary designed for travelers who want to reach Annapurna Base Camp in the shortest time possible without compromising on safety, service quality, or mountain experience.

The short Annapurna Trek itinerary is crafted by our expert team, who have spent years guiding clients through the Annapurna region. From logistics and permits to accommodations and daily operations, our team handles everything end-to-end, ensuring a seamless, worry-free journey.

Our 5-Day ABC Trek delivers the full Annapurna experience in a focused, high-value format. You’ll trek through traditional Gurung villages, cross three distinct climate zones, and stand at the foot of Mt. Annapurna I (8,091 m)—the world’s 10th-highest peak. Along the way, the iconic Mt. Machapuchhre (6,993 m) appears unbelievably close, guiding your path from the very first step.

Anyone accustomed to hiking 5-6 hours a day is fit enough to complete this shorter trek version. Proper planning and preparation ensure success even for beginners.

What to Expect on the ABC Short Trek with Sublime Trails

Starting from Pokhara, the Annapurna Base Camp 5-day Trek guided by Sublime Trails begins with a scenic drive to Jhinu Danda, followed by a direct ascent toward Machapuchhre Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp.

Throughout the trek, you will stay in handpicked tea houses (mountain lodges) operated by local families. These lodges offer clean rooms, warm dining areas, and essential comforts. Basic amenities such as Wi-Fi, charging facilities, and hot showers are available in most villages for a small additional fee. While simple, these accommodations provide an authentic Himalayan experience and are the standard for all treks in the Annapurna region.

Meals on the route are freshly prepared at the tea houses. Expect hearty trekking staples like Dal Bhat, noodles, fried rice, momos, soups, eggs, Tibetan bread, pancakes, and warm beverages. We ensure that all meals included in the package are hygienic, nutritious, and suited for high-altitude trekking. Vegetarian options are widely available throughout the trail.

All necessary permits, including the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the TIMS Card, are arranged by our team before your trek begins. You won’t have to worry about administrative paperwork or queuing at permit offices—we handle everything for you.

Travel insurance is mandatory for this package. You must have a policy that covers emergency evacuation and high-altitude trekking up to 4,000 meters or higher. This ensures your safety in case of altitude sickness or unforeseen medical situations. Our team can guide you on choosing a suitable insurance provider if needed.

We then drop down to cross the Chhomrong Khola (river) before a final, steady climb brings us to our cozy lodge in Lower Sinuwa, giving you a full, immersive day on the trails right from the start.

By late afternoon, we reach Deurali (3,200 m), tucked beneath sheer rock walls—a quiet place to rest, sip warm garlic soup, and let your body adapt to the thinner air crossing the 3,000-meter threshold.

A measured, awe-inspiring two-hour afternoon walk across open terrain leads directly into Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m), where you are wrapped in a 360-degree amphitheater of 7,000-meter and 8,000-meter giants —just in time to watch sunset turn the glaciers to gold.

Dropping into thicker, oxygen-rich air makes every downward step feel effortless as we retrace our steps past MBC, Deurali, and Himalaya, stopping for lunch in Dovan before settling into the sheltered greenery of Bamboo for a restful night.

Food and Accommodation

What You’ll Eat & Where You’ll Stay

Sublime Trails provides three full meals a day throughout the trek that are breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So you’re always well-fed and energized no matter how remote the trail gets.

Menus in teahouses serve Nepali, Tibetan, and simple Western dishes. Dal Bhat is the staple and the most nutritious option for long trekking days.

Breakfast typically includes eggs, pancakes, toast, or porridge. Closer to ABC, the menu becomes more limited and prices increase due to altitude and supply constraints.

  • Main Meals: Dal Bhat Tarkari, Momos, Noodles, Pasta, Sherpa stew, Thukpa, Yak meat curry, Yak burgers
  • Breakfast Items: Pancakes, Porridge, Muesli, Buckwheat bread
  • Snacks & Sides: Tsampa, Apple pie, Spicy pickles
  • Hot Drinks: Boiled water, Black tea, Milk tea, Mint tea, Ginger tea, Lemon tea, Green tea, Tibetan butter tea, Coffee, Hot lemon with ginger and honey
  • Cold Drinks: Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Pepsi, Canned juices, Energy drinks
  • Alcoholic Drinks: Raksi (Local spirit), Apple brandy, Beer, Whiskey, Rum

We recommend vegetarian options for food safety. You can also purchase clean bottled drinking water, but trekkers commonly refill bottles with boiled or filtered water. Sublime Trails recommends carrying your own water purification systems. Common ones include lightweight trekking water purifiers such as a squeeze filter, UV purifier, or chemical tablets.

Incredible 5-Day Trek with the Best Team!

Absolutely the best experience of my life! I was traveling solo and wanted to join a group for the 5-day Annapurna Base Camp trek. Sublime Trekking matched me with a group departing the same day and welcomed me in so warmly—it made the entire journey truly unforgettable. Our guide, Suman, was phenomenal—knowledgeable, organised, and attentive to everyone’s well-being. He made sure we had regular breaks and stayed on track, all while creating a fun, supportive atmosphere. We shared so many laughs, captured incredible memories, and formed bonds that will last forever. Completing the trek in just five days was definitely challenging, but absolutely worth it. Don’t think twice about booking with this company—they’ll take amazing care of you and give you the adventure of a lifetime.

A
Incredible experience

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek was an unforgettable experience, largely thanks to the amazing team that accompanied us. Our guide, Suman, was more than just a guide — he was a true trekking companion. Always available, attentive, and with an uplifting energy, he made each step feel lighter (even when our legs were giving up!).

A huge thank you also to our porters, without a doubt the true heroes of this journey. Their strength, generosity, and constant support were essential — we couldn’t have reached the top without them.

A challenging adventure, full of personal victories, made all the more memorable thanks to these incredible people who walked by our side.

Great ABC 5 days trek

I did a short 5 days trek organised by Sublime Trails to reach Annapurna Base Camp, with Kiran as a guide. I had a very strict and tight schedule for my vacation in Nepal and the trek needed to be planned ahead for this reason. I felt safe and in very good hands as the agency was always very reactive to my emails and whatsapp messages beforehand. My guide Kiran was very kind and very thoughtful and could answer all my requests, and I learnt a lot about the nepali culture during this trek thanks to him. I recommand 100%

Know Everything Before You Go Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek

Most nationalities, including US, UK, EU, Australian, and Canadian citizens, can obtain a Nepal visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport or apply online in advance. ATMs are available in Pokhara but not beyond the trailhead, so carry sufficient cash for the full trek.

Trek Difficulty

The Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek is considered moderately challenging. Although the itinerary is relatively short, it includes long ascents, thousands of stone steps, forest trails, and high-altitude hiking above 4,000 metres. A reasonable level of fitness and prior hiking experience will make the trek more enjoyable.

Accommodation and Facilities

Accommodation is provided in traditional mountain tea houses. Most lodges offer:

  • Shared twin rooms
  • Shared bathrooms
  • Dining halls with freshly prepared meals
  • Hot showers (extra charge)
  • Wi Fi (available in most villages for a fee)
  • Charging facilities (extra charge)

Facilities become more basic as you approach Annapurna Base Camp.

Communication and Electricity

Mobile coverage is generally reliable up to Bamboo. Beyond this point, especially around Deurali, Machhapuchhre Base Camp, and Annapurna Base Camp, the signal may become weak or unavailable.

Most tea houses have hydropower electricity, although charging electronic devices usually requires an additional payment.

Best Time to Trek

The best seasons for the Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek are:

  • Spring (March to May): Blooming rhododendron forests, clear mountain views, and comfortable temperatures.
  • Autumn (September to November): Stable weather, crisp skies, and excellent visibility of the Annapurna range.

Temperature

Expect significant temperature differences between day and night.

  • Daytime: Approximately 5°C to 12°C near Annapurna Base Camp
  • Night: Around –5°C or colder at higher elevations

Permits Required

You'll need the following permits before starting the trek:

  • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
  • Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) Card

Water Availability

Safe drinking water is available throughout the trek. Most tea houses provide boiled or filtered water for a small fee. Carrying a reusable water bottle and purification tablets or a filter is recommended, while purchasing bottled water is discouraged to help reduce plastic waste in the Annapurna Conservation Area.

Trail Conditions

The trail is well maintained and clearly marked, passing through rhododendron forests, traditional villages, stone staircases, suspension bridges, and alpine valleys. Sections near Deurali may become icy during winter and can be exposed to seasonal avalanche risk after heavy snowfall, so it's important to follow your guide's advice and current trail conditions.

Altitude Considerations

Although this is a short itinerary, you still ascend above 4,000 metres. Altitude sickness can affect anyone above 3,000 metres regardless of fitness level. Walking at a steady pace, staying hydrated, and informing your guide of any symptoms are essential for a safe and enjoyable trek.
